Benefits of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare

Healthcare has always been quite complex. In recent years, there has been increasing demand for solutions to the large staff shortages, high waiting times at healthcare facilities but also to make patient records more transparent for both the healthcare provider and the patient. And the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has answered the huge demand. Because this has allowed us and a few other clever minds to develop very neat digital solutions in healthcare. AI can be applied in healthcare in several ways. We would like to share three key ways how we do it.

Digitalising care through AI

A huge number of records are kept at healthcare institutions. Until fairly recently, the input was manual, and whenever large amounts of data had to be reviewed, it was a hugely time-consuming and error-prone task. But, it became even more troublesome the moment a patient was referred from one doctor to another. Viewing records was often difficult, making the entire treatment process unnecessarily time-consuming. Since the implementations of AI, we have made this process a lot easier. Records are now stored online, allowing health facilities to review information quickly and easily. This makes for a more efficient process for both the patient and the healthcare provider.

Higher efficiency during treatment process

Because all records are stored and viewable online, a more personalised treatment plan for patients can also be developed. With AI, it is possible to sift through large amounts of data in just a few clicks. This reduces the time a treating doctor spends analysing test tests, for example, and allows a patient to be helped more quickly. But also by using predictive analytics, healthcare providers can take preventive action, reduce health risks and therefore avoid unnecessary costs.

AI recognises potential risks

Apart from the fact that AI in healthcare saves a lot of time and costs, it has also made people themselves more involved in their own health. For example, take the Pathology Game we developed. This game allows players to train an artificial intelligence to recognise mutated cells. Through players' input into the game, the AI is trained so that it can eventually help pathologists make diagnoses faster and better. This initiative, in collaboration with Delft University of Technology and the Netherlands Cancer Institute, will enable us to quickly recognise cancer in people and offer appropriate and effective treatments.

We are committed to our customers every day, making healthcare more enjoyable for everyone. Does this align with your mission? Who knows, maybe we can join forces! Tell us more.
